Creative Challenge - OUR QUOTE

 What does the word SPECIAL inspire you to create? You can chose to use the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

Even though we were inspired by weddings for our creative challenge, you do not have to create a wedding-themed project. The instructions are simple - we want you to follow OUR QUOTE as inspiration and use something OLD, something NEW, something BORROWED or something BLUE on your project. 

For example, you can decide to use a brand new paper collection (NEW) or add blue paint on your background (BLUE). You can use some of those old antique buttons you've got stored away (OLD) or use a tool that you have borrowed from a friend (BORROWED). Please let us know which ones you've used. You can even challenge yourself and use all four! We will also accept projects that display the quote itself.  Easy, right?

VERY IMPORTANT! You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge - the word inspiration AND the creative challenge - on your project to be eligible to win. Just look at our desisgners' creations and descriptions as example. Also, remember that you must include our board image and a link to our blog in your entry post.

For me and my husband, riding our bike and travelling is something really SPECIAL - it's that great time when we are just the two of us on the road! For my layout, I used a photo of an OLD motorbike and some BLUE watercolour and mists.

Word Inspiration - CHANGE

Creative Challenge - OMBRE

Use the word CHANGE as inspiration for your project.  You can choose to add the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired to create from it.  Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

For our creative challenge, we want to see an OMBRE or shaded effect on your project.  Ombre is the gradual blending of one colour hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark.  Take a look at our DT work for some very shady ideas!

VERY IMPORTANT! You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge, the word inspiration AND the creative challenge, on your project to be eligible to win.  Just look at our designers' creations and descriptions as example.  Also, remember that you must include our board image and a link to our blog in your entry post.

This photo was taken in 1923, a year of huge CHANGES for Greece, and those troubled times are reflected in the innocent eyes of these boys.  For the OMBRE part of the challenge, I used various shades of black and grey blending with each other, as I think they match both my photo and the captured moment.

Word Inspiration - DELIGHT
Creative Challenge - RECIPE

What does the word DELIGHT inspire you to create? You can choose to use the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

Are you any good in the kitchen? Well, it doesn't matter, because for our RECIPE challenge, the cooking will be done in your scraproom or craft corner! On our board, you will find 2 options. Option A is to scrap about your favorite family recipe. You can use whatever products you want when doing so. Option B is to follow our own "art recipe" which is listed on the right. If you decide on option B, you can scrap about any theme you want (as long as you are inspired by the word!!), but you must incorporate the list of ingredients provided on your creation. For example, you can choose to add a tag from line 1, a few pieces of flair for line 2, a button or 2 for line 3 and some mist for 4. We have to be able to taste our "art recipe" ingredients on your yummy creation! So whether you share with us a special recipe as the theme of your project or follow our own art recipe, or decide to combine both, we're looking forward to see what you cook up! ·

My son's greatest DELIGHT and joy is playing at the sea !! Nothing in the world makes him happier !! I used for this art RECIPE a flair, a tag, some beads and paper flowers !!

Creative Challenge - CIRCLES

Use the word FRIENDS as inspiration for your project.

You can choose to add the word itself somewhere on your project

or simply be inspired to create from it.

Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if it not already obvious.

We thought that the word "friends" would go perfectly with a CIRCLES creative challenge! "Circle of friends", "Friendship circle", get it? So we want to see circles on your project, as many as you want, however you want. Round and round, until we get dizzy with creativity!

My best FRIEND in life, my constant ally and protector, is my sister Katerina. Since day one, she was there for me, partner and witness of my childhood. I drew a lot of CIRCLES for this layout and tried to make them 

interesting with different textures and stamps.

What does the word SMILE inspire you to create? You can choose to add the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

Use this fabulous SKETCH, designed by our very own DT member Helen Hapsi, as inspiration. Feel free to turn the sketch in any direction you prefer. You can interpret any element of it as you wish, as long as we can see that it was the basis of your creation.

This month's word inspiration reminded me of this old family photo I had.Those two girls from Cyprus, friends of my grandmother , are giving their most innocent SMILE to the photographer. I really wanted to use it on a layout and this was the perfect opportunity ! I followed the SKETCH for my project by creating a modeling past background.

Word Inspiration - IMAGINE

Creative Challenge - GET MESSY

Use the word 'IMAGINE' as inspiration to create your project! You can choose to use the word somewhere on your project or to simply be inspired to create from it. Please explain in your blog post how it inspired you, if it's not obvious.

Our creative challenge this month is to ‘GET MESSY’! We want you to stretch your creativity! Mixed media techniques are so popular and you don’t have to be a pro at them to have fun! All you need is a little imagination so take out your paints, inks, mists, sprays, texture pastes and more to create a fabulous background or elements for your layout, canvas or art journal page. Getting messy is just part of the fun!

I used the word IMAGINE as title to my project because this photo was taken at the ruins of Pompey where you can only imagine the magnitute of the catastrophy. I got really MESSY creating this one, using lots of media and different colours !

Word Inspiration - MOMENT

Creative Challenge - CLOCKS

What does the word MOMENT inspire you to create?

You can choose to use the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it.  Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you if not already obvious.

For this month's CLOCKS creative challenge, we ask that you use a clock or any part of a clock on your project.  You can choose from dials, hands, cogs and gears, pocket chains, pendulums or all of the above.

OK! No time to waste! We'll be counting the hours until we see what you create!

The second girl on the right is my mother, just having fun with her friends on their last day as school students in 1968.  An unforgettable MOMENT for all of them!  For the CLOCKS part of the challenge, I used some metal elements from real clocks, gears and springs.

Ιts one of my favorite photos, because they had that amazing idea to write on their school bags the word " the end" with a piece of chalk ! It was a spontaneous decision, an unexpected moment that wrote history to their friendship!

SnP April challenge - Be romantic

Hello friends !!

Lets take a look at April challenge at Scraps n Pieces !!

BE ROMANTIC !

Use a romantic pic, get inspired by our mood photo, use a romantic object or embellishment or create something in romantic style !!

My little project was inspired by a photo of my mother

which I thought it was very romantic !! So here it is !!

I used some tulle and lace flowers as a romantic element too. I decided not to follow the color combo of the mood photo and used blue and brown shades instead with my aquafine watercolours and added lots of  Finnabair pollen  micro beads .

Lots of gesso and modeling paste for my background and a tulle flower painted with my watercolours.

                      Hello everyone !! This is our new challenge for April at More than words  !!

                                       Word Inspiration - ESCAPE

                                 Creative Challenge - MOOD PHOTO

Use the word 'ESCAPE' as inspiration to create your project. You can choose to use the word somewhere on your project or to simply be inspired to create from it. Please explain in your blog post how it inspired you, if it's not obvious.

Our creative challenge this month is a 'MOOD PHOTO'. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so for this challenge, we offer you not just one word as inspiration, but a thousand! You can use any part of the scene as inspiration - the rainbow, tree, white ‘frosted’ leaves, sky, horizon, fields, wild flowers, grass texture, birds, swirling smoky clouds, to name but a few. What inspires you?

Please add 1-2 lines explanation on how you were inspired by the word and how you interpreted the creative challenge.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!  You have to incorporate both parts of the challenge, that is the word inspiration and the creative challenge, on your project in order to be eligible for a prize.  Remember that our challenge concept is all about a WORD and more (thus our name More Than Words)! :)  When we vote, we specifically look for projects that display BOTH requirements, and not just the creative challenge.  Just look at our DT members' interpretation, as described underneath their project, as example.

Here is my page for this month

For me ESCAPE means only one thing ... traveling !! I used two photos of me and my husband from a trip to a lake at northern Greece and added the birds from our MOOD PHOTO as they are a symbol of freedom and traveling.
